Wesley Studios Presents The First Annual

DAY CREEK ARTIST FESTIVAL

Sedro-Woolley, Washington

July 27 & 28, 2024

The Day Creek Artist Festival is two days of art, music, food, and fun, including Saturday evening concerts and overnight camping available for cars or tents. The Day Creek Artist Festival has a mission to connect artists with the community, and to give artists a platform to successfully share their practices. The Day Creek Artist Festival is a chance for artists to do everything from showcase a latest masterpiece, to release a new album, to debut a new performance or skit, or to share a great story. Guests will be both entertained, as well as have a chance to meet the artists. This is a weekend exhibit and market open to the public along with a performance stage and evening programming for live music and other acts.

DON WESLEY

Sedro-Woolley

"Having moved over 20 times in my 50+ years, my work has also taken on many shapes and looks during my career. Ed Bereal taught me that art can be used as a lever for change, and Margery Amdur taught me how to exploit common materials to form a greater whole. My study of dance also transfers into the movement present in my paintings. The flight patterns and songs of birds represent freedom in my work."

For the Day Creek Artist Festival, Don Wesley will be presenting selections from each of his recent series, of which many remain active and collectible.

Don will also be performing as Owl Don on Saturday evening at 7:30pm.

ALISHA RECKAMP

La Conner

"I'll be presenting a few different branches of my art (PNW inspired, abstract, cartoony, and some semi-realism too). All of it is guaranteed to be weird, most of it includes trash animals! My medium is acrylic for originals."

In addition to showing her original work, Alisha will also be offering art prints for many of her more popular pieces.

PAUL BLUM

Baker Heights

"Growing up in Chicago I was exposed to art and history at the Art Institute of Chicago, which led to a life-long love of both. I have had no formal training in painting and consider my art to be naïve and primitive expressions of my love of the Pacific Northwest, and of the urges that make humans create.

After a 40-year rewarding but stressful career in nursing, which required control, exactitude, planning and serious attention to detail, painting has allowed me to relax, to experiment freely, to play without restraint, and to step outside of ordinary time."

Paul will also be performing with friends Saturday evening at 8:30pm.

SATURDAY NIGHT CONCERTS

Saturday July 27 7:30-11:30pm

(Doors @7:00)

Saturday evening concerts start at 7:30 pm after dinner. Once the sun begins to set, we will turn up the live stage, inviting everyone to pick a spot and stoke the fire pit for an evening of music performances. Upon conclusion of the live stage acts we will continue the evening with dance music, because Saturday night is meant to be a celebration.

9:30pm

SPACE MEMORY EFFECT

Amy Susan Wallace, the voice behind Space Memory Effect, will be performing an intimate keyboard set at the festival. Her evocative songs draw from personal experiences, weaving stories of love, loss, and human connection.

PAUL BLUM & FRIENDS

Paul Blum, a 70's Ohio transplant, was once a career nurse, and has been a life-long artist and musician. He is coming from Baker Heights and shares the stage with friends.

7:30pm

OWL DON

Owl Don's looping guitar and lyrical style blends his Ohio River valley roots with the experiences of living in Washington since 1989. Don picks, barks, howls and soothes his way through time, using himself as the lab rat, or unwilling scapegoat to complete his stories.
