New work for 2019

It's been a fantastic year so far for me and my new studio here in Day Creek. Here are a couple of the longer running series from the first few months of this year. With the configuration of my studio, I am able to work on larger number of works per series. The Eagle series was a direct response to my visit to see the Eagles in Marblemount this winter. The color of the sky that morning with the misting rain and leafless trees was so memorable, I had to record it for myself, if no one else. Compare those seemingly stark yet cozy feeling paintings to the brash and exploded personalities and colors of the Roosterdoos. Viewers are as shocked as I am, in hindsight, that both these series were not only painted by me, but also that they were painted at the same time! I had no idea I was in such a mode of pure expression at the time. The purity in goal is how the works look so different. Flow took care of the rest. And, stay tuned, I have many more ideas for the Roosterdoo series forthcoming.

Painting titled Fork, that shows two bald eagles in a tree at the fork of a river. Their ability to eat, or not, is also a determinant of how easily we can eat the same source of food. This painting asks, is the environment healthy?
